FBHS Graduate Michael Herrington Being Commissioned Into The Space Force
As a Computer Science major at the United States Air Force Academy, Flowery Branch High graduate Michael Herrington had an interest in space as a career. In 2019 when the Space Force was created, he knew that it was an opportunity he couldn’t turn down.
“To be part of only the third graduating class able to commission directly into the Space Force is a humbling feeling, and I am excited to be serving my country at a time when so many new opportunities are presenting themselves within the services,” said Herrington.
The U.S. Space Force handles a wide array of military operations from satellite operations & communication, electronic warfare, orbital tracking, and a plethora of other critical mission-support functions.
“I am excited to be serving in America’s newest service branch, and I am thankful for my time spent in Hall County Schools and at Flowery Branch High, which I believe helped prepare me for the academic rigors of the Air Force Academy and set me on a path to success in leadership,” continued Herrington. “Additionally, I am grateful for the guidance and mentorship of Mrs. Beth Purdy and Mrs. Laura Novotny-Beaver, who were big influences during my final year at Flowery Branch.”
Congratulations, Michael, and thank you for your service to our country.
