2022 AP Honor Schools
The Hall County School District is proud to announce our high schools that have been named 2021 Georgia Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools by State School Superintendent Richard Woods on March 31, 2022, based on July 2021 AP Exam test data. Several of our high schools are AP Honor Schools in more than one category, and all high schools that administer AP exams are represented. Congratulations to our students, teachers, and administrators!
AP exams are administered by the College Board, which also administers the SAT. AP courses are one of several ways Georgia students can access college-level rigor at the high school level; students who receive a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam are eligible to receive college credit.
State School Superintendent Richard Woods stated, “We are committed to expanding opportunities for Georgia students, including in advanced and accelerated coursework. I offer my sincere congratulations to each of this year’s AP Honor Schools, and thank each teacher, student, and school leader who worked hard to create strong AP opportunities in these Georgia schools.”

2022 AP ACCESS AND SUPPORT SCHOOLS: Schools with at least 30% of AP exams taken by students who identified themselves as African- American and/or Hispanic and 30% of all AP exams earning scores of 3 or higher

2022 AP SCHOOLS OF DISTINCTION: Schools with at least 20% of the total student population taking AP exams and at least 50% of all AP exams earning scores of 3 or higher

2022 AP EXPANSION SCHOOLS: AP schools with 25 percent growth in AP student participation from May 2019 to May 2020 and a minimum of 25 students testing in May 2019

Hall County Schools congratulates our 11 students who have been named as finalists or alternates for the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program for the summer of 2022!
The Governor’s Honors Program, known as GHP, is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school juniors and seniors. Administered by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA), it takes place on the campus of Berry College in Rome, GA. The program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom and that provides students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders. GHP began in 1964; fully funded by the Georgia General Assembly, it is free of charge to participants.
Over 3,200 students from across the state applied; nearly 1400 students interviewed and auditioned in February; and approximately 700 were chosen as finalists, so we are very proud of our 11 Hall County finalists.
The Governor’s Honors Program will run from June 19 – July 16, 2022 at Berry College in Rome, GA. For four weeks, students will spend the morning in their major area of nomination, exploring topics not usually found in the regular high school classroom. During the afternoons, students choose one of the other areas in which to study. The curriculum in all the areas is challenging and engaging. Evenings are filled with seminars, activities, concerts, and performances. Many of GHP’s past participants regard it as one of the most life-changing events in their lives.
