Instructional Materials – Elementary
The Georgia Department of Education is fully responsible for developing and maintaining performance standards for Georgia students. Georgia Standards of Excellence are implemented in Hall County Public Schools.Georgia Standards of Excellence for each content and/or course may be found at the GeorgiaStandards.org.Resources that support the standards have been carefully reviewed and selected by educators who serve as leaders in the Hall County School District.
During the 2023-2024 school year, a group of elementary leaders spent months researching and consulting with literacy experts across the state and the HCSD is excited to have selected Benchmark Workshop as the core literacy program. Benchmark Workshop is a core reading program reflective of the components of structured literacy as outlined in the Georgia Early Literacy Act (HB 538). The Georgia High-Quality Instructional Materials Committee rated Benchmark Workshop as “Strongly Recommended”, their highest rating. After meeting with and viewing the data from other Georgia School districts the decision was made in August of 2019 to pilot Eureka Math in the Hall County School District in grades kindergarten through third grade. All schools adopted Eureka math in kindergarten and first graders in 2021 and kindergarten through third grade in 2022. A team of district math leaders and elementary school principals selected Eureka Squared, the newest edition of Eureka Math, as the primary math resource for all elementary grades beginning in the fall of 2023. Each of these resources have been presented to the Hall County Board of Education and have been approved during the annual budget process. These are open sessions and the public is allowed to comment.
